A thousand guests sat down to supper at the Savoy on New Year's Eve and saw the New Year in amid a scene of boisterous enthusiasm. A choir of boys sang 'Rule, Britannia' and after midnight struck the company at all the tables joined hands round the room and sang 'Auld Lang Syne.' Everything is now being transferred to the restaurant, and even the New Year's Eve ceremonies, once domestic of the domestic, are celebrated in public.
