Gallery Package - The Winter of 1947
Fen skating championships.  The Amateur Championship of Great Britain (for the King Edward VII Cup and the Professional Champsionship (for the Championship scarf) were held by the National Skating Association of Great Britain on Bury Fen, near St Ives, Hunts. For the first time in the history of the contests, which were last held ten years ago, there was serious opposition to the tradiitonal superioty of the Fenmen from entrants from the London ice rinks. One of the day's fastest times was put up by H. Howes of Aldwych Club.  Here he is at speed on Bury Fen.  His time was 4 minutes 59 secs<br>19th February 1947
