1069422 - Giant Robot Planned. In an unprecedented move in the field of military transportation, the US Army is now seriously considering used of robots. Due to the difficulties of operating wheeled or tracked equipment over rugged terrain, it is planned to use vehicles - with legs. Scientists at the General Electric Company in Schenectady (New York) are busily working on the project. Manoeuvred by a human driver, the robot will simulate movements indicated by muscular controls of the driver. Development of such a machine will not only mark a significant advance in engineering but officially hail the commencement of a new era - the robot age.
