Beatrix Potter in about 1905 at her farm Hill Top in the lake District. Born in 1866 she died in 1943, having created a host of enchanting animal characters beloved by children for over 80 years.<br>With the revenue earned from the sales of her 'little books' plus a small legacy, beatrix bought the small working farm near Sawry in 1905. She used both her animals and her property as models and source material for her paintings and stories.
