Born at Constantine of Armenian parents in 1869, Gulbenkian's ambition is to live to be 106. He claims his father died at the age of 105.
Now more a recluse than ever, the man who became a naturalised Briton in 1902 rarely leaves his hotel, and when he does it is only for a short tour in an American limousine he hires at a flat daily rate of £6 10s.
