0766541 - American helicopter pilots from a U.S. Icebreaker in Antarctic waters are said to have taken a number of Souvenirs from the historic Antarctic huts of Captain Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton. The pilots flew to the 50-year-old huts, about 20 miles apart on Ross Island, to say prayers. They returned with Mementoes: A few scraps of wood found outside Scott's hut, and a bottle of medicine form inside Shackleton's hut. Officials of the operation "Deep Freeze" have issued strict orders that nothing must be moved from the huts by visiting Americans. Photo shows: Shackleton's hut as it looked in 1911, when used by members of the Scott expedition. The hut was built during Shackleton's 1908 expedition. 23 December 1955
