With his legs twisted round a pipe, Jock Kerr of Tottenham worked over the whirling water at the weir at Lea Bridge Road waterworks to secure a drum of highly dangerous explosive, swept away from the Royal Ordnance factory at Waltham Cross, ten miles away.
