LORD BURGHLEY
Lord Burghley was one of the most popular athletes ever to wear England's colours. When at Eton he showed great promise as a hurdler, and later, at Cambridge, won the 120 and 220 yards hurdles in 1925-6-7. For many years he was recognised as the world's greatest hurdler, and season after season won the AAA Championships. In 1932 he captained the british team at the Olympic Games at Los Angeles, and succeeded in being placed in two finals.
